Do I need a telephone line?

No the DIAL-2-START uses the GSM cell phone network in the same way as a cell phone.

Will it work anywhere?

It will work anywhere in the world where there is a GSM cell phone network and the DIAL-2-START can receive a signal.

Can it be activated from another country?

The DIAL-2-START mobile phone remote control switch can be activated from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a telephone.

Can anyone activate the DIAL-2-START mobile phone remote control by calling it?

Yes and no, the DIAL-2-START can work in open access mode whereby it will respond to any call made to it, or secure access mode when it will only respond to authorised numbers.

What are the call costs?

DIAL-2-START uses the cell phone network and the same as a cell phone it has a SIM card, when you call DIAL-2-START it rejects the call without answering and switches on the device connected to it so there are no call costs incurred. When DIAL-2-START is initially programmed it sends a confirmation SMS text message and this will be charged at your network operators rate. Simply buy a Pay-as-you-go card and SIM from the carrier with the strongest signal at the location of intended use.

Do I have to use a cell phone to activate the DIAL-2-START?

No, it can be activated using a landline.

What is the switching capacity?

DIAL-2-START can switch up to 2.5 Kw, which is approximately 10 amps @ 230V, if you need to determine the power rating of your device multiply the operating voltage (volts) x Operating current (amps) = Power (watts). It is important to make sure that the total of the separate loads plugged into the unit do not exceed the maximum rated ampherage of the power supply receptacle if the relays are to be both switched on at the same time.

How long does the DIAL-2-START switch on for when called?

It can be set to switch on for between 1 second and 18 hours, it can also be switched on (without a time limit) by sending it a sms text message, it can be switched off in the same way.

Can it be switched on and off by sending an SMS text message

Yes, remote control by sms message, simply send it a sms text message to switch any of the relays on or off.
